I am a creature of habit, especially during my work week. I don’t like adventure. I like tried and true and in a hurry. These are the products that I reach for on a daily basis.
If I wear a primer, it’s usually something in a foil pack or a sample size. Right now, I’m using the No Poreblem Primer by Touch in Sol foil pack and the Phyto Pigments Illuminating Primer by Juice Beauty. They’re okay. I don’t think I’d purchase either one. Then again, I’m not really a big face primer kind of girl.
I use 3 foundations consistently. The newest is the Bye-Bye Foundation Full Coverage Moisturizer by It Cosmetics in Light Medium. The easiest is Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream, in the shades 520& 530 Light/ Medium. And my favorite is Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixer in the shade Ivory.
The concealers I use are usually for my eyebrows and eyelids. I’m well over 40 and I have dry under eyes, so I stay away from all of those layers under there, but for eyebrow clean up and as a lid primer I use 2 very different ones. For brow clean up, I use Tarte Shape Tape in Fair Neutral. I use Maybelline Fit Me in Fair 10 for eyelid primer and/or to spot conceal.
I try to only powder the parts of my face that I put bronzer and blush on. I usually end up doing my t zone as well, because it’s summer time and your girl is still recuperating from the hormone hell that was birth control. Soooo, my face is a greaseball. The best is the Milani Prep, Set and Glow Illuminating Face Powder in Translucent. The newest is the It Cosmetics, Hello Light Anti Aging Powder Illuminizer in Light.
For blush, I alternate between 4. The newest is It’s Bye Bye Pores Blush in Naturally Pretty. The easiest are the Covergirl Instant Cheekbones in the shades Refined Rose and Peach Perfect. My favorite came in a subscription box last year. I don’t remember which one. It’s the Doucce Blush in the shade RSVP.
I’m a little less rigid on the highlighters. I move them in and out of my rotation. I’m using the Laura Geller Baked Highlight Mini in Vanilla and the CYO Shimmer Switch in the shade In the Clouds. (I usually use the top two parts for my highlight, sometimes the bottom two are used as eye shadow.) I just moved the Beauty Bakerie Baking oil out because while I do love it, it just doesn’t help with my greasy situation right now. My favorite highlights are the ones that come in the Instant Cheekbones palettes mentioned above.
Bronzer is another one I move around a bit, the two in my basket now are the very well loved OG Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Light and the Rimmel Maxi Bronze in Dark. Look at the pan, y’all!
For my brows, I don’t stray from the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Espresso. It’s inexpensive and easy to use. On weekends and when I have a little extra time to do my makeup, I’ve been experimenting with a few Benefit products. The Goof Proof Brow Pencil is a pain in the ass to get right. The shade is nice, and the formula is nice. It’s the shape of the damn product that messes me up. It’s like a pear shaped thing? Something?
I dunno. I’m not a fan. I’ve also been trying to use the Precisley My Brow Ultra Fine Pencil. It’s shaped better, but it’s the shade that’s wonky. I’m using 4.5, Neutral Deep Brown. I always feel a little bit like Groucho Marx when I do my brows with it.
Brow gel is another product I don’t stray from. I use the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Deep Brown .
If I wear eyeshadow to work, I usually wear something neutral. I move palettes in and out of my rotation. Right now it’s mainly Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes and the CColor Cosmetics Cherry Palette. Maybe a palette basket will be the next thing that we take a look at. Today, I’m not wearing anything on my eyes but mascara. It was THAT kind of morning.
Mascara is where I’m the most adventurous. There are 6? 7? And they are all bomb. My top three are the Pat McGrath, Fetish Eyes. It Cosmetics, Super Hero and Tarte Big Ego Mascara. All of these are super black. For a little pop color, I love Loreal’s Voluminous Original Volume mascaras in Deep Burgundy and Cobalt. I use Benefit’s They’re Real and Roller Lash on my bottom lashes.
I seldom use eye liner, the only thing in my basket that’s close is the Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Highlighter and I use that in my water line most days. It’s an instant wake up for 4:30 am mornings.
Lip stuff varies. I have a basket I rotate thru. I have lip stuff in my desk, in my purse and in my car.
It depends on the eye look and my mood…. but normally I wear something nudeish for work. Maybe we’ll work thru the lip basket in a future post as well.
After all of the face stuff is done and before I go on to perfume, I set my face. This stuff doesn’t live in my basket, it’s on my shelf. It’s more like a grab and spray kind of situation. I love the All Nighter, by UD. I love the Loreal True Match Lumi. Mario Bedescu Facial Sprays. Milani Make it Last and the Make it Dewey. Ohhh, and don’t let me forget the Catrice ones, I love them both. I also love the product in the Pixie one, but the sprayer is shit. And, the Anastasia Beverly Hills one is okay, it’s a little tacky, I probably wouldn’t repurchase it. I’ll let you know about Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow, it’ll be here soon.
Whew, that was a lot. I enjoy reading or watching what people use in their everyday stuff. It’s usually the most trusted or no fail. Have you guys used any of my tried and true products? What are your tried and true?
