Product Regrets 💸💸💸

You know how sometimes, you think you’ll really enjoy something only to get it home and realize maybe you’re not so crazy about it after all? Maybe it doesn’t fit right, or the color is off- or maybe it’s just not what you thought it would be?

That my friends, is product regret.

Please, note. I’m not brand bashing, or even brand shaming. I’m definitely not about that negative life. I’m just not in love with these products or for some reason or another they didn’t work for me.

Let’s start with the most recent.

I purchased the Urban Decay Elements palette from QVC weeks ago. I wore my mailbox out waiting for it to finally come and when it did, I couldn’t wait to get it on my eyes. The next day, was a work day of course, and y’all know I try to keep my makeup kinda normal for work, so I cooked up as neutral of an eye look as I could with it. And it was pretty.

The shadows are creamy and blend well. All is well, right? Well. The weekend arrived and I was going to play with the palette and be a little more adventurous, and holy hell. I couldn’t do anything but stare at it.

Totally uninspired. 💸

It’s like the writer’s block of makeup. NOT EVEN PINTEREST COULD HELP ME OUT. I pick the palette up and just put it back everytime. I don’t know, maybe it’s the layout. Maybe it’s the shades. Maybe it’s just me. Did I mention this thing was 54 dollars????????

Oh yea, and then there’s this. This little piece of gold is the Nars Narsissist Eyeshadow Palette.

Yes, you know the wet dry one? Gah. I really tried and tried to like it, I just don’t. The shadows are nice enough, but I find them to be boring. Wet or dry. Yuck, we don’t even want to talk about the cost of “boring” either.💸

Another recent that didn’t work for me is the Becca Hydra Mist Set and Refresh Powder. I just don’t like the way it looks on my skin. I’m into dewy skin and this one makes my skin look very matte. I like the sensation of wet cool powder as weird as that sounds. It just doesn’t work for me.

Smashbox Photofinish Primer Oil. Hmm, Breaks me out like nobody’s business.

J Cat Beauty Holographic Eye Topper in the shade Pinch Me Peachy. I haven’t had it but a minute and it’ll all dried out?!

Tarte Shape Tape. I’m so over all of these triangles and dots of thick concealer all over my face. Whew, ages me with a quickness.

OOooooh. This regret really made me cry. Literally. It’s the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette. MAKES MY EYES WATER. I know right? The first time I wore it I thought I was just suffering from allergies or something. Little and I were all dressed up to go listen to the Greenville Symphony, I cried during the whole thing. I kept trying to wear it unknowingly. I finally had an aha moment and haven’t worn it since.

ps. It also hard panned like crazy. 🙈

Don’t ya hate it when that happens? What are your product regrets! Have you tried any of mine?

  1. wow, 54$ for the Nars palette, nop nop. I mean, there are great make-up artists out there but I look at it and see myself only using two, maybe three of those shades for one eye look and I’d only use those… I hate when that happens. 😕

  2. I hate that! I bought this heated hair brush thing that I thought would work great on my short-medium length hair. Was I ever wrong. I burned myself 4 times on the first side and my hair did nothing, either I used it wrong, my hair wasn’t long enough or it just sucks as a product (it was likely all my issue but none the less). I was disappointed and have gone back to my trusty straightener!

    1. Oh no! It probably just sucks as a product! And you burned yourself! That is crappy. Is it one of those bristly hair straighteners? I’ve wanted to try one of those too. Like the one pass and your hair is silky straight? I always pansy out and stick to my regular straightener too. ❤️
